GRAVEL DRIVEWAY INSTALLATION – CORE DRIVE 50-35HDR

PROJECT BRIEF:

FIRM AND EASY OFF-STREET PARKING 

The client wanted a simple cost-effective answer to his off-street parking requirements. The surface had to be clean, firm and easy to maintain within a budget. The entire project including the off-street access had to be completed within two days.

PRACTICAL SOLUTION:

NEW VEHICULAR ACCESS OF FRONT GARDEN  

A new vehicle access was constructed to comply with local authority regulations and allow vehicular use of the front garden. The garden was one-part lawn and one part badly worn macadam. The entire area was excavated – allowing for a new sub base to be installed at a depth of 150mm. This was then graded, compacted and levelled using a thin blinding of sharp sand. CORE Drive 50-35HDR was laid and filled with an angular 10/20mm green granite chipping.

As a driveway surface, porous gravel stabaliser and loose aggregate are incredibly fast and easy to install, delivering a large saving compared to alternative paving products. This significant cost saving and speed of instillation all contribute to improve the environmental impact of the works. The gravel grid is hidden below the gravel and the surface remains flat, firm and puddle free. The porous surface allows water to flow through avoiding surface water accumulation – thus eliminating the risk of slipping in wet conditions. The gravel finish provides an ideal surface traction for vehicles whilst maintaining a clean surface for pedestrians. Perfectly suitable access for prams and pushchairs also, with DDA compliancy if disabled access were required.
